September 30th, 2006

September 24th, 2006

1. How am I living in allegiance to Jesus Christ? Am I communicating anything?
2. How does our community live in allegiance to Jesus Christ? What are we communicating?
3. What part of one’s mind or soul runs in terror from the language of these questions?
4. When did one decide to stop speaking that name in public? [...]

September 24th, 2006

mr. cohen’s 72nd birthday

September 21st, 2006

I was born like this, I had no choice
I was born with the gift of a golden voice
And twenty-seven angels from the Great Beyond
They tied me to this table right here
In the Tower of Song

the walk

September 21st, 2006

one goose … three deer …
goldenrod … three ducks …
goldenrod … goldenrod …
two deer … two coyote …
one skunk somewhere …
one cardinal bird … sunlight …

one sestina

September 20th, 2006

Pound-Eliot Sestina. By Alfred Corn …
T.S. Eliot never wrote a sestina.

the distance

September 20th, 2006

i suppose in teaching one never gets the chance to be quite as smart as one might be … there’s something held back … a place inside the idea you never get to … like in was it to the lighthouse … you get to q, maybe even r or s, but never to t [...]
